1. Tell us a bit about your background
I’m Maysi (@maysi.h)! I started creating when I was a little kid and just never stopped. I love all things fashion, but I particularly love taking photos of it.
2. How did you get your start as influencer and how you decide industry focus?
I started posting pictures from photo shoots I was doing, and my page began picking up traction! Once I started receiving brand deals, I realized I could turn this into a job.
3. Where do you get the ideas for your content?
I really like scouting out unique locations and envisioning what kind of posing and look would match. When I hit creative blocks, I’ll look to magazines and even Instagram to find inspiration in other’s work.
4. How do you choose which brands to work with?
Choosing which brands to work with is definitely the easiest part of the job. If I like genuinely like a brand and what they’re selling, I work with them. If not, I won’t.
5. How has your life changed since becoming an influencer?
I’ve worked with so many incredible brands and met amazing people through my platform. My life has gotten a lot more exciting to say the least.
6. What’s been Your biggest challenge as an influencer?
It’s really frustrating when my posts preform poorly. I pour a lot of effort into my content and it’s disappointing when posts don’t do as well as I hoped.
7. How did you build that loyalty with followers?
I always stay true to myself!! My followers expect to see the real me and that’s what I give them.
8. How did you grow your channel?
My content is uniquely me and I think that really helped my channel grow.
9. What is your advice for creating an authentic audience on social media? How did you get the ball first rolling?
Be authentic!!! It’s as simple as that.
10. As an influencer, what do you do to switch off from your phone?
I have a lot of hobbies outside of my phone. I love learning new things, coming up with ideas, and of course hanging out with friends and family.
11. Do you feel that your online life reflects who you are as a person, or do you feel like you have an internet “persona,” to a degree?
Although my online presences isn’t super personal, it definitely reflects who I am! It doesn’t adhere to one single aesthetic, but my pages are cohesively me.
12. What is the best piece of advice that you were ever given?
“Be shamelessly you”. Be who you are, and who cares what people have to say.
13. What strategic advice do you have for up and coming Instagram influencers?
Take your time coming up with and curating the things you posts. Posting constantly is important but it isn’t everything. Spend time on things you put out, it’ll make a difference.
14. Do you predict any shift in influencer marketing in the coming future?
I think influencer marketing is just going to continue to grow. It’s the new age of marketing for sure.
15. What do you think is most misunderstood about influencer marketing?
I don’t think people realizes how much work goes into influencer marketing. It isn’t always well respected, and it’s often not taken seriously.
16. What’s one “influencer marketing must” that marketers often overlook?
Authenticity. Authenticity is so important. Content should’t drastically change when a post is sponsored.
